  • As a man there is next to nothing in terms of support for you if you're suffering at the hands of lies and accusations by a woman once the police decide that the woman is the victim. The best piece of advice anyone can give you in these circumstances is to stay persistant and keep EVERYTHING!

  • In cases where a female makes a false allegation and a man makes a report of any kind of abuse, it is likely that the police will ignore any kind of reports and complaints by the man and blindly follow what the woman reports as most police, especially Met police in London are blinded by their own mistakes and feel they have to go the extra mile to support women and girls. This was outlined in the report by Baroness Casey which outlines the polices failures, with the majority of it coming from within.

  • Here is the CPS guidance on Perverting the course of justice which covers Perjury(lying to courts) and wasting police time, which is when someone makes false accusations and it leads to an arrest. https://www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/public-justice-offences-incorporating-charging-standard

  • The first port of call is the make the actual report. Once made as with any kind of report of abuse you will be given an advise slip stating someone will make contact within 24 hours from DV support, but as a man, this support may never come. This is done by either calling 101 or filling in the report online. I recommend online reporting and then calling the police 2 weeks later to chase up the report and seek a crime reference number. To make an online report of a crime visit your local police force website ie; Met Police or visit https://www.police.uk/pu/contact-us/

  • If you're lucky enough to have the police contact you back and follow up on your report, you will be asked to attend a station to provide a statement. This can be lengthy and emotional depending on the circumstances and having to relive hard moments and speak about certain situations can be embarrassing and have you speaking about things you have tried to out at the back of your mind, but you need to be strong and make this statement and ask the police to film the interview on a body cam if they are not already.

  • For those who don't get a response from the police, the next step is to put in a complaint. This is done via the IOPC who will then pass the complaint on to the relevant police force. At this point you would think the police would be keen to assist, but this is quite possibly the most frustrating period for any victim as the police have no time scales on how long they want to take with responding to a complaint. Also you have to remember that in the first instance, the police are investigation the police, and 9 times out of 10, the police will find the police to have done nothing wrong. This is because their complaints policy isn't designed to assist and help the victim, but it is designed to cover up and hide their misdemeanours.

  • To raise a complaint with the IOPC visit, https://www.policeconduct.gov.uk/complaints-reviews-and-appeals/make-complaint What you won't be told anywhere is that if you have not had any response from the police for 28 days, you can call them and ask them to give the police a nudge and explain that you are waiting for a response from them. One of our case studies shows a man waiting for 233 days at the time of writing this post for a response to a complaint raised with the IOPC and forwarded to the police where it was just left hanging and the man was being ignored despite daily contact with the police. This is now being taken to courts with actions against the police and we will update you if there are any further developments.

  • That man is currently taking actions against the police, and this is what we will get into next time. How to complain and recourses to complain to the police, as well as what to do if you've been subject to lies and false allegations against you in court documents. Also pointers on information needed and the process for actions against police. Many Thanks
